CODE OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

  • Members of the Association shall be bound by the principle of confidentiality with regard to the information disclosed in the course of the practice of the profession.
  • Members of the Association shall state in advance any conflict of interest (commercial, financial or other) with the undertaking.
  • Members shall endeavour to be objective in their interpretation and refrain from subjectivity in the practice of the profession.
  • Members shall not accept any assignment for which they are not qualified.
  • To ensure quality in the interpretation and contribute to the success of the conference, members of the Association shall:
  • become familiar with the subject of the conference and shall request a briefing, whenever appropriate;
  • ensure that the organiser and sound equipment provider understand the interpreters' needs and provide good sound and visibility of the speakers (ISO 4043);
  • arrive early at the conference venue to verify the above (see Hiring Interpreters ).
  • Members of the Association shall comply with the legal requirements for invoicing and collection.
  • Members shall dress appropriately to meet the customer's reasonable expectations. At all times, members shall display a conduct that is correct, tactful and diplomatic, so that they are noted only for the quality of their work.
  • Any breach of the rules of the profession, as defined in this Code, shall be penalized by the Ethics Committee.
